WIND IN YOUR HAIR: CRUISE THE CORNICHE IN STYLE

As Ralph Waldo Emerson so brilliantly said, “Life is a journey, not a destination.”

But it sure helps if that journey is on the glorious roads of the Corniche in a Porsche 356 Speedster.

This is surely the most romantic route in the world and zipping around hairpin bends with the top down is an undeniably glamorous way to enjoy it. Grace Kelly did it in a Sunbeam Alpine – what’s your dream ride?

Fabrice and Linda Le Roy – owners of Rent a Classic Car – have a drool-worthy collection of four-wheeled beauties from the 50s, 60s and 70s made famous by the likes of James Dean, Steve McQueen, Dustin Hoffman and Brigitte Bardot. From rare British gems to Italian cars designed by handsome men with lovely jackets, they are passionate about each and every one of their “babies.”

And so is half of Hollywood, it seems. Brad and Angelina kept the couple’s Citroen DS Henri Chapron convertible for an entire 3 months to film By The Sea. Poor Fabrice had the horrid task of driving this spectacular vehicle to them in Malta! And last summer Emma Watson drove with her boyf from Chateauneuf du Pape to Rome in the Mercedes 250 SL “Pagode.” Then there was Pierce Brosnan and Simon Cowell…. not to mention tear-jerking stories from “real” people, such as a young Brit who sent them 3 kilos of fireworks to hide in the boot of the Cobra, then whisked his girlfriend away somewhere to propose to her. I assume she said yes, or that would have been a big waste of fireworks.

Of course, these cars aren’t just for celebrities and people called Rupert. You, too, can splash out for the day and get your pose on. They operate between Cannes and Monaco and will deliver to your airport, hotel or home.

As for parking – hell, you can just leave it outside a restaurant. Isn’t that what fast-car people do?
